Is constipation normal on the HCG diet?

Yes, constipation is very common while on the diet, especially due to the dramatic diet change.

However, 4-5 days is too long without a bowel movement, and we recommend that you should take a break from the diet at least until you are back on a regular schedule. Your health is of utmost importance and we do not want to take any risks.

Also, you might want to consult with your doctor as well prior to starting the diet again, just to ensure its right for you.

If I have Diabetes can I do the HCG diet?

Only a doctor can legally advise you on diabetes; be sure to check with your doctor if you have any concerns with your diabetes. However, this is what Dr. ATW Simeons had to say on the subject of hCG and diabetes:

"In an obese patient suffering from a fairly advanced case of stable diabetes [Type II diabetes] of many years duration in which the blood sugar may range from 3-400 mg%, it is often possible to stop all antidiabetic medication after the first few days of treatment [with hCG]. The blood sugar continues to drop from day to day and often reaches normal values in 2-3 weeks. As in pregnancy, this phenomenon is not observed in the brittle type of diabetes [Type I diabetes], and as some cases that are predominantly stable may have a small brittle factor in their clinical makeup, all obese diabetics have to be kept under a very careful and expert watch.

A brittle case of diabetes is primarily due to the inability of the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin, while in the stable type, diencephalic regulations seem to be of greater importance. That is possibly the reason why the stable form responds so well to the hCG method of treating obesity, whereas the brittle type does not. Obese patients are generally suffering from the stable type, but a stable type may gradually change into a brittle one, which is usually associated with a loss of weight. Thus, when an obese diabetic finds that he is losing weight without diet or treatment, he should at once have his diabetes expertly attended to. There is some evidence to suggest that the change from stable to brittle is more liable to occur in patients who are taking insulin for their stable diabetes."

Am I supposed to gain weight while on TOM? Should I do the diet at all? Should I take the drops?

In the book, "Pounds and Inches," which details the HCG diet protocol, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons recommends discontinuing the daily drops of human chorionic gonadotropin during menstruation. Many women dread this, as they believe that the lack of HCG, even for a few days, will disrupt their weight loss progress and cause their diet to fail. There is also no reason to believe that this is true, but there is also no reason to discontinue the diet drops. Your period will not be noticeably altered, although you may experience more severe cramping. Talk to your doctor about your concerns for advice specific to your situation.

Don't continue the drops during your period just because you're afraid you'll stop losing weight both pounds and inches and Dr. Simeons himself suggest that weight loss generally does not occur during menstruation whether you continue the injections or not. This is generally due to water retention and your weight loss should resume its typical 1/2 lb. per day progress within a day or two. It's typical to gain some water weight when TOM comes around. If you are worried about gaining you could try walking for 15 to 30 min a day. Doing that should help get rid of any extra water weight that may exist. Again make sure you talk to your doctor before doing any altering of your hcg diet and your TOM.

Who is Dr. A.T.W. Simeons?

More than 50 years ago, Dr. Albert T. Simeons, a British-born physician, contended that HCG injections would enable dieters to subsist comfortably on a 500-calorie-a-day diet. He claimed that HCG would mobilize stored fat; suppress appetite; and redistribute fat from the waist, hips, and thighs. He spent years studying patients suffering from obesity; which became the foundation of a weight loss program that used a medication called HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), a hormone produced when a woman becomes pregnant. Dr. Simeons theorized that if HCG can utilize the body’s own fat reserves for nutrition to the body in periods of deprivation, then a small amount administered daily in non-pregnant women and men may assist in weight loss.

There is no scientific evidence to support these claims. Moreover, a 500-calorie (semi-starvation) diet is likely to result in loss of protein from vital organs, and HCG can cause other adverse effects. Dr. Simeon’s HCG diet has become a phenomenon among those who desire to lose weight quickly and efficiently. The news of how the HCG diet is helping overweight and obese people lose fat and inches without extensive amounts of strenuous exercise is all over the web, on television, in newspapers and magazines.

I've heard that the HCG diet starts with something called "loading days." What is that?

The emphasis here is on consuming foods high in FAT. You may eat whatever you want, but fats are what you need to focus on these loading days. Loading days are to help your body set up the new hCG in your system to start burning fat. You will want to eat or 'load up' on as many fatty foods as you can possibly stand. Dr. Simeons' Protocol states to 'eat to capacity' for those first 2 days on the hCG. The consequence if you don't has been for many to discover that their hunger is still there and can become uncomfortable. If you 'load' properly, you will find that the hCG begins right away to scavenge needed calories from your abnormal fat stores (the really annoying ones like in the gut) so that you feel no real hunger at all.

You DO need to take the hCG on loading days. The loading works with the hCG to prep your bod for the changes coming. There are two primary reasons for loading:1. The hCG effect of burning your abnormal fat stores for fuel does not kick in until the third dose, so eating 500 calories without this effect of hCG will cause you problems in terms of losing structural fat and being extremely hungry until it does kick in. 2. You need to replenish the structural fat stores that are usually depleted in dieting, assuming that you have dieted without hCG in the past.

Can I exercise while taking HCG?

You can exercise on the HCG diet but you will typically be advised not to exercise strenuously. The original HCG diet plan does not recommend vigorous exercise for you, because some studies show it may slow down your weight loss. Your level of fitness before going on the diet can help guide you in determining what is vigorous exercise for you.

A good rule of thumb while taking HCG diet drops is to listen to your body. When on a 500 calorie diet it can be hard to maintain a regular work out routine. So that is one of the reason's why it is suggested that you don't work out while on the diet. But if you want to work out just make sure that you are not pushing your body over board.

Well think about it, you need calories in order to support your energy levels. If you're following the diet, and exercising, you could cause yourself to get dizzy and exceed your body's energy requirements. I'd recommend just doing your weights to keep your tone, and skip the high energy cardio. Maybe just do 30 min of walking to get the lymph flow and digestion flowing, and do some toning work.

What if i cheated Big Time!? Can i get my HCG diet back on track?

Most people think that because they have cheated, the diet is not going to work. However, that is just not true. You still have the ability to lose a lot of weight. At the same rate you don't want to keep cheating either. That will likely keep you from losing the amount of weight that you want. The fact remains that people do cheat on the HCG diet. So if you do end up cheating that one time, you shouldn't let that ruin the rest of the diet for you - So definitely don't give up. You should continue with the HCG Diet as if nothing has happened.

If your gonna cheat do it right. The most important thing about cheating on the HCG diet is to pick the right food. Don't go off the deep end and eat a giant piece of cheesecake or a super-sized burger combo meal. There's a better way to cheat and give your taste buds a little vacation while still playing it safe. Some people have discovered HCG diet cheats that don't stall their weight loss at all. Here are some good cheats that won't kill the diet. Watermelon, Whole wheat crackers, Cottage cheese, Turkey, American Beef. Also if you want sweet try putting an apple or grapefruit heat up some pieces in the oven then sprinkle cinnamon. Its way good!

"What should I do if I cheat?" Presumably, if caved and pigged gave in and feel like giving up. Remember you're human, so not to worry. You just have to suck it up and go back on to work on your HCG diet. You can do it you just gotta use that good ole self control it just takes practice but i know you can do it!

Will HCG help with my diabetes?

The HCG diet can actually help prevent diabetes. Some of the best ways to prevent diabetes is to eat healthy, become active and of course, lose weight. While on the HCG diet, the dieter will eat healthy, whole foods that will help you establish new eating habits to help maintain your weight in the future. Diabetes is becoming an epidemic in the US. It is now the 7th leading cause of death in the United States using HCG to lose weight, along with a healthy diet and exercise afterwards, is believed to help lower that number.

Dr. Simeons discovered that it could actually help obese patients lose enough weight that they can eventually discontinue their diabetes medications. In Pounds & Inches he stated, ‘In an obese patient suffering from a fairly advanced case of stable diabetes of many years duration in which the blood sugar my range from 3-400 mg%, it is often possible to stop all anti-diabetic medication after the first few days of treatment. The blood sugar continues to drop from day to day and often reaches normal values in 2-3 weeks.’ Of course, you’ll want to consult your physician before discontinuing any prescribed medications.

I can’t sleep because I am so hungry! What do I do?

The HCG diet promises fantastic, quick, healthy weight loss, without hunger pains. And it really works, but the fact is some people do get hunger pains while taking HCG. One thing we have noticed with our own customers is that the hcg diet hunger pains are usually only experienced by those who have about 20 pounds or less to lose. Those with more weight to lose usually don't have this problem.

Also may i recommend tying a good supplement to help you out while on the diet that can give you that added hunger fighting power and added energy that you need while taking HCG diet drops. Its called ChromeMate. Also another thing that may help with hunger is to look at the frequency of drops that you are taking.

When I say frequency I mean how many times a day are you taking the drops. Many times by increasing the frequency of your drops the less hunger you will experience. So if you’re taking HCG diet drops 3 times then change the frequency to 4 times a day and so forth. I would suggest just increasing your frequency by one extra dose a day at a time until you reach results. So if your having a lot of hunger and can't sleep give that a try!
